INCLEMENT WEATHER If there is inclement weather prior to the start of camp, check the VBC website for information on camp status. If inclement weather comes during the day, we will take shelter. We will use the school for lunch or shelter on excessively hot days. If a camp is cancelled due to inclement weather, Arlington Parks & Rec will issue a credit in the amount of the cancelled day. Please check your spam folder for email messages regarding weather related announcements.
KEEPING KIDS COOL IN THE HOT WEATHER
Please make sure your child comes to camp well hydrated. The VBC staff of directors is well trained and experienced in dealing with playing in the heat. During “code orange” and “code red” days we will take mandatory water and shade breaks at least every 20 minutes. Staff will ensure that each child drinks plenty of liquids. On “code red” and “code orange,” players will spend time indoors in the air conditioning (where available) during lunch and after lunch activities (11:30am-12:30pm). Every precaution is taken to ensure a safe environment for players and staff. If excessive heat is expected for several consecutive days, we may schedule the camp to begin and end an hour earlier in the day.
All registrations, cancellations, and refunds go through Arlington Parks & Rec. You can sign in to your account or give them a call at 703-228-4747. Click here to see Arlington Parks & Rec refund policy. Contact the DPR Administrative Services Office.
